RAF Aircraft at Usworth

MILITARY AIRCRAFT TYPES OPERATING AT RAF USWORTH from 1917 to 1962

Records show that more than 35 different military aircraft types operated from RAF Usworth during its long life, as referred to in an accompanying article The History of RAF Usworth.

These are listed in the attached document in four section; World War 1, World War 2, The Inter-War Years and The Post War Years.

The photographs and details have been taken  from David Charles, Airfield Focus 78: Usworth/ Sunderland Airport and The North East Land Sea and Air Museum (NESLAM) and open-sourced internet sites.  Excluded are the numerous private aircraft  by civilian operators. Ahead of each section is a table showing the range of aircraft identified so far in each era.
