Washington History Society is an informal group of people who work together to keep the history of Washington alive. We collect and preserve photographs, documents and memorabilia, while taking an active part in raising awareness of the town's heritage through talks and exhibitions.
The Society's aims are to communicate information about Washington's past, to preserve items of historical import- such as photographs, and to to form an archive for present & future generations.
MEETINGS The Society holds talks & meetings in the MIND Building, Grasmere Terrace, Columbia, Washington, Tyne & Wear. NE38 7LP (1.30pm - 3.30pm). These meetings are held on the first Monday of each month, excluding January, May and August.
MEMBERSHIP is open to all and if you wish to join the Washington History Society the subscription for one year or part of a year is £5. There is a meeting cover charge of £2 that includes refreshments.
