Though George Washington knew little of English ancestry he corresponded with William Peareth of Usworth Place and George Pearson of Durham in 1770 and 1797 respectivily about the execution of the Will of a Newcastle-born Virginia planter. These exchanges were business-like and made no reference to the parish of Washington as the orgin of Washington's name.
