Queen's visit July 1977

As part of their country-wide tour the Queen and Prince Philip visited Washington on 15 July 1977. The main event was a parade and entertainment at the arena which just south of the Town Centre and a visit to The Wildfowl Park (now The Washington Wetland Centre). The Development Corporation produced a special edition of The WNT Review, delivered to every Washington household, to commemorate their visit and earlier ones by President Carter to the Old Hall and Town Centre, Princess Anne to the Strang Riding Centre and Muhammed Ali to the Sporting Club of Washington (later The Northumbria Centre).
