President Jimmy Carter 1977

Attached is the Washington Echo edition of 3 May 1977, celebrating the visit of the United States President, Jimmy Carter, and Britain's Prime Minister, Jim Callaghan, to Washington Village and the Old Hall. As well as articles for the visit and other developments in the town, it's filled with numerous adverts for Washington shops and businesses, many long gone that show prices for houses, cars and everyday grocery goods back then.
