Bobby Thompson 1911-1988

Born in Penshaw, seventh child of John and Mary Thompson, orphaned eight years old, then raised by his elder sister in Fatfield. 
Attended St Joseph’s, Washington and Fatfield schools
Worked at North Biddick Colliery, from aged 15, earning 7/6 a week.
First performed at the Gem Cinema, Penshaw
Served in the Border regiment in Carlisle during WW2
Marriages: Anna Marjoram 1936 to 1945, Phyllis, 1948 to 1967, Eleanor Cicely Palmer 1982 to 1988
